Couple of questions...
« on: May 16, 2001, 12:35:00 AM »
Is it possible (or in the pipeline) to equip the bombadier position with items like a compass, ordnance settings, door indicators (or lever) etc?

Could you add a sort of 'salvo lever' to the mappables? So that I can program buttons or keys or even a lever to control my bomb salvo rather than have to rattle out '.salvo 5'?

Right now the bombadiers seat is one of the least-well organised, and generally involves the player taking both hands away from the stick to tackle the '0' key and zooms or whatever, and having to switch to pilots seat to check settings and bounce back to bomber view and reset zooms etc. It generally puts the less computingly adroit at a major disadvantage...

100% agree

Altimeter, airspeed, and ordinace selector for those bombers which carry different types of bombs (i.e lancasters and JU88).

Please add these features.

These features are what I would categorize as "nice to have".  Usually, my bomb run is set up well in advance of getting into the bombardier position.  By then speed and altitude are set and the dye has been cast. After your initial run one has to jump back to the controls anyway to turn the plane around and since you were on autopilot straight and level it should be right where you left it at (unless your making some kind of diving, turning bomb run which is out of the ordinary).

A salvo selector would also be "nice to have" as well as ordinance selector but again I do what's called MISSION PLANNING en route to target and know what I will hit first with what ordinance and how many it will take to knock out the target.  Considering the amount of time it takes to climb to altitude and get to a target do you have anything else better to do?

As much as I like to be organised on arrival, this turns out to be a multiplayer game, and I often find that I need to change my plans based on events that occured after my takeoff, such as other pilots arriving at the field ahead of me and dropping on my planned targets, the field I was *intending* to attack being taken, or my having lost an engine during fire just prior to the bomb run.

Nett result is that, while I like to have a plan, much of the time I arrive at the target and need to improvise. It's a PITA having a run wasted because in order to be bombadier you have to keep hopping up to the pilots seat =)
