Bombsite
« on: August 26, 2008, 09:39:01 PM »
Considering switching bomb site to MA site, to make it easier for the casual bomber pilot.  Would like to see more bombers up in the air, so it might help.

What do you guys think??

Might be a good idea, we don't have much in the way of bomber pilots unless the Avengers are on.
So far it's a fun setup Bug. I had to give up the P-40 though because of the alt of the fights, it was just bait up high. Switched to the Spit then the fights went low it seemed.
A very fun setup so far, maybe tomorrow the Avengers will be on and we can do some Offensive stuff.

Yeah I think I might see if the staff can make the switch.  Trying to keep it a historical arena, but still with the ease of play that the MA has.

Unless I have a crew to fly the plane and man the guns for me while I calibrate, then I prefer the MA bombsite.  Thanx bug.

I'd actually jump in buffs if we had the MA site.

Personally I prefer the realistic bombsite as it does make it more of a challange.  But I think a bigger factor as to why you aren't seeing more bombers is the radar coverage.  With the bombers that are in the setup, pilots look at the radar and realize there chances of even making it to the target are slim to none.

I not only want to see more bombers, but I'd like to have the ones that do up be a little more effective.  I think having the wind there to throw off aim is a good compromise for using the MA site.  I understand the desire for the AvA site, but I'm thinking for the time being maybe the MA one is the way to go.

You make a good point on the DAR coverage, not being familiar with the settings firsthand, I kinda had to wing it.  So as I see things play out I hope everyone will be understanding that settings will change.  I'm sure you all can appreciate the delicate nature of BBS discussions, so as long as we keep all discussions civil we should be able to flesh out a setup framework that is pleasing to a wide range of players.  So for the criticism has been constructive, mature and meaningful.  So I <S> you guys for that.

But back to DAR, I most definitely want full BARDAR to keep the sectors that have potential for a fight very well defined, but I am open to changing DOTDAR.  It currently is set to 20 miles, what do you guys think about 10 miles?  Remember take all style of players preference in mind, we are shooting for a balance here.

10 miles would be good bug along with 3k icons, I have always liked the short range ava icons.

Definitely full BarDar, nothing worse than a new guy to the AvA to pop in and for the arena to look deserted even though there may be twenty guys flying.

I think 10mi for the DotDar (MA settings I think) is a good compromise between allowing someone to find a quick fight and allowing folks to run bomber missions with half a chance of surviving.

BTW, huge props for the effort you are putting into this Bug, it's so much more fun than the MAs.

Edit: and 3k icons too.  :)

Can't we just have the dots show up when they hit the radar circles? Is that not how it works now? Or are we talking about country dots? I like it just the way it is now.

Good call on MA bombsight.  Players just don't fly buffs if the 'hard' site is used.

I like 3k icons too.

I think MA dar is 12.5 miles.. not positive.
