Rudder Authority
« on: October 13, 1999, 08:49:00 AM »
I'm addicted to vertical maneuvers ... the type where you pull high over some poor b@stard, hammerhead down, and throw a few 20mm cannon his way before he knows what's hit him

The rudder induced yaw at high/cruising speed in AH is great, but I wonder about the low-speed handling characteristics.  I've been trying to get the 109 and P51 in particular to hammerhead, but with limited success.  Rudder authority at the top seems VERY mushy... maybe I've been spoilt by years of flying the brand 'W' sim.

Any tune-ups or tweaks due in this area?

About 109's rudder;
back in WB times I was able to do following:
Roll slightly left and at same time put full
rudder to right, still rolling more left,it was 'kind of' rolling scissor move, I guess.
But so far in AH, I haven't been able to do it.
Is WB modelling 109's rudder too effective,
or is it just too ineffective in AH ?

I know , I know, this is only beta.
Just curious...

I've always loved 109's rudder and it was
best bet if You had some one on your 6.
Scissors & other rudder related moves really
worked.
Except that one time when I had spit on my 6
and I started to do scissors. I did about 5
moves to left and right and left and right...
I forgot to look back; there this bastige was
flying straight behind me, without any moves,
LOL !
