HTC, AH is a great sim; however, the outside elements need some sound.  ie: when a plane flies by, we should be able to hear it.  when ack fires, we should be able to hear it.  when bombs impact, we should be able to hear them land on the enemy's heads.

One other suggestion is that us newbies would love to be able to go to the HTC website and read an accurate write-up regarding each plane's features, strengths, weaknesses, etc.  The graphs that your site currently have are...well...no comment.

Thank you!

Bloody

Actually, I don't think you can even hear the ack. I was never shot at by the big 88 type stuff so I can't say, but I have been shot down twice by the smaller rapid fire stuff like 20mm etc. All you can see is wigly tracers coming at you. You can sort of hear it hit, or at least you feel it hit. This was in helicopters so the engine sound isn't that loud either.  In a sim you need a hit sound, otherwise you wouldn't have any way of knowing you were hit.

You can't possibly hear another plane fly by. I have seen bombs hitting in the distance while still in a helicopter, but I didn't really hear anything. These were the type of bombs dropped by an F4 Phantom in close support role.

It's strange, but the second you are out of the helicopter you can hear it all, even when the chopper is still right there nearby.

It would be nice to see some explosions in this sim though.

ps. no I was not a pilot. If I were I'd be much better at this sim heheh.

One of the knock,s I see on AGW about AH is there is little sense of flight. I think they got us there. Ive been playing since beta, and i still have to fly by instrament. In brand W I never had to do this. I could tell by the sound how fast I was going. Ive cranked up the wind sound , but it is not enough. The sounds I would like to see worked on first, are flight sounds.

Rangerbob I made up accurate hit sounds too but didnt include them in the P-38L soundpack

you hear them but its less hollywood like more like a "frap" sound of bullets through thin metal airframe

the major hits and damage less glitzy too but u know when u lost somthing

Citabria you should post your realistic hit sounds. Some of us may really like them, and you don't have to use them if you don't want to.

your engine sounds are just fantastic.

Ya got any for the other planes?

Neg, I don't hear planes when they fly by.   Nor do I remember hearing bombs impact.  I'm guessing that you guys can.  Hmmmmmmmm.

The posting above is correct in saying that, so far, AH aircraft are flown by instruments rather than by "feel".  The sounds of flight are still lacking.  The sound of an overreving engine during a dive is pretty much non-existent.  During a divebomb run, I couldn't tell if I was at 120kts or 300kts w/out looking at the airspeed indicator.  hehe

I know, though, that AH is still in its infancy.

I agree with you Bloody, you can't hear bombs while inside the aircraft. You might have missed that part in my post.

"You can't possibly hear another plane fly by. I have seen bombs hitting in the distance while still in a helicopter, but I didn't really hear anything. These were the type of bombs dropped by an F4 Phantom in close support role."

Still it would be nice to hear them from a Panzer.

you are almost certainly correct about external sounds.

I was refering to being able to hear the bomb thuds from a documentary on b-52's where the pilot said it sounded like the worlds loudest drummer gone berserk when they popped off massive strings of dumb bombs in formation.

now that I think about it I am sure he meant thats what it sounded like from the ground and not 30,000 feet.

btw thanks Ranger Bob

I'm going to wait till after the next release though since a lot of new sounds are gonna be added and changed

I can email you those hit sounds though if you want them

the experience you describe about what
you hear during flight and what not, are
from real life flying in real 3D.
Now that we are sitting in front of a
2D Monitor, we need some sound effects
that may not be heard during real flying,
but for the whole SA, whats happening aroundme and with my Plane/vehilce.
We talking about Sound FX, with or without
they will not change the climbrate of the FW190 or Spit or....
But dont forgett the "fun factor" !
Trying to copy real life ambiente sound into 2D Monitor ends often boring.

thats my 2 cen..err pfennig
