Typhoon Mk1B fuel tank layout
« on: January 19, 2009, 10:13:35 PM »
as the title suggest
was was the layout of fuel tanks in the typhie
ie. where where they located

my best guess is the 2 bigger AUX tanks where behind the pilot and the smaller MAIN tanks where inbetween the pilot and engine

google hasn't been very helpful so i thought i would ask the history gods of AH

thank you in advance

so by the look of it there would be no benifit draining different fuel tanks
to get better balance roll rate etc
they are pretty much in the same part of the wing

From the Tiffie manual

3. Fuel cock

a. main and nose tanks, - A 3-way cock control (38) in the cockpit allows fuel to be drawn simultaneously from both main tanks or from both nose tanks as required, but not from the main and nose tanks at the same time

note the 'nose tanks' are in the wing's leading edge.
