If you look at My Profile you will notice i live in an area in England Called North Lincolnshire.We Had the northern most U.S.A.A.F base in the uk during WW2. Most U.S.A.A.F. bases were in the south.
The AirField was sited at Goxhill Which is 6 Miles from the Humber Estuary and the Humber Bridge.

RAF Station F-345 Goxhill transferred to USAAF 8th Air Force in May 42 in order to receive new Fighter Group personnel from USA for training.
The station was home to the following groups:
May 42 to Aug 42, 71st Sqn, 1st FG flying P-38 Lightnings.
Aug 42 to Oct 42, 52nd FG flying Supermarine SpitfiresOctober 42 to November 42, 93rd Sqn, 81st FG with P-39 Airacobra.
December 42 to April 43, 82nd, 83rd, 84th Sqns of the 78th FG with P-47 then P-51, moving to Duxford.
June 43 to August 43 350th, 351st, 352nd Sqns 353rd FG with P-47.
August 43 to October43, 356th FG. Oct 43 to November 43, 358th FG.
December 43 to December 44, 496th Fighter Training Group, a Combat Crew Replacement Center for 8th and 9th USAAF units. 554th Sqn with P-38 and 555th with P-51.
After the departure of the Americans in 1945 was used as a storage area for bombs and vehicles. Rumours are that large quantaties of USAF aircraft are still buried on the site.
RAF Fighter Command took over in January 1945 and all flying ceased in May that year. 233 MU Bomb Storage, RAF Maintenance Command took over the site until December 1953.
The airfield was sold on the 29th Jan 62. The land is now used for agriculture, many of the buildings survive.
