Phantom shooters

I have this lovely mission with two aircraft on one side and 18 dogfighting C47s on the other.  My normal method is to kill the other friendly aircraft on the runway (those are MY baby seals) and continue the mission.  However, while dogfighting goons I occasionally see tracers coming from no-where and hit sprites on goons far, far away from me.

Any ideas?

LOL,  i got shot at by a phantom shooter.... It happened after i killed all the drones...  Looked back and saw tracers.. Switched to f3 mode and tried my best to figure out where the invisible salamander was.. Finally i just slowed down on the deck and let him shoot then i dropped trhot and pulled the trigger , landing some hits i pulled away and gave it the gas.. All i could see where the tracers, no plane.. this was in a offline mission i dowloaded a year ago.... lol TUK151

This happened to me for the first time last week while test flying the Rune's Rumble mission.  Had a ghost plane chasing and shooting at me for 2-3 minutes.  There were only four enemy aircraft in the mission and they were all visible and accounted for.

Have you tried setting up multiple flights with only one plane per flight? 

I started a thread about this a few months ago.  If you create multiple flights with one aircraft each instead of adding multiple aircraft to each flight the invisible aircraft problem seems to go away.
