IE8 computer crash
« on: February 24, 2009, 09:52:30 PM »
Hello every1, am in dire need of ur assistance.  I decided to update my other com-
puter, a Windows XP SP2, I downloaded on Windows Update, IE8.  It was successfully installed, & I needed to "RESTART" my computer, which I did!

The problem is that now I'm unable to logon to my Windows XP as I get the following ERROR MESSAGE:

EXPLORER.EXE - ORDINAL NOT FOUND

(X)  The ordinal 169 could not be located in the dynamic link library iertutil.dll

Tried everything & am unable to access my computer    :(   Can any1 help me start
my programs, I can only get as far as my Welcome screen & that's it...am unable to get to system restore.

Your advice is sorly needed.  TY.

Start your system.... Press F8 after the boot screen.  Choose Safe mode, do a system restore to just before the install of IE

Oh and for the sake of love use Firefox instead. IE spells trouble.

Unless you need a website that doesn't support Firefox.  Amazing how many web developers can't cater to both.

Install the ietab add on for Firefox from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

It allows you to do a bunch of stuff in Firefox that normally would require IE.  Install it on all my clients' pcs :)
