Fantasy?...

Ok, juzz tell me what part of my post was wrong.

The Fw190G8 was a lit lighter than a Fw190A8. So it will be a nice fighter.

The Fw190G8 had MW50 fitted, AFAIK, making it faster at low altitudes.

The Fw190G8 had extra fuel tanks for extended range.

The Fw190G8 had an incredibly wide range of choices of weapons for A/G work. Some of them (as the 30mm gun pods) could be used also on buff hunting missions.

G8 is a lighter A8 with more range, no stinkin' 13mm MGs,faster at low altitudes, and MUCH wider weapon choices.

So now, eat your words, sir, for the only one with a fantasy here is you

dont lump the yak in with niks and spits frenchy

I would say the Yak is one of the best A2A fighters in AH, but its certainly not easy to kill in.....

for best all around currently in the game? Probably go with the F4u-1c. With 2 drops it can escort, and do everything else just as well or better than the pony.

My pick would be the P-38L. Good range, big bomb or rocket load, good guns, and the torp
of course. Well O.K., torp dropping was only used in trials  :-)
Two engines on long ocean flights would be just the thing to keep the pilot dry.
Choice two, F4U-4.
Choice three, B-17  ;-)

My immediate reaction is the P-47-D30.  Stang's are not tough enough to do attack IMHO.

But with a bit of though... I have to say the F4U-1C.  It's guns are better on armour and to top it off you can fly it from a carrier.  Carrier ops make it more flexible than most of it's competitors, so it wins the best all-around IMHO.

I've been flying the P-51 for the past week or so (for evaluation purposes of course   ), and I'd have to pick the Stang. It can do alot of things really well. Not the best at jabo work, but with 2x1000 you can do some damage. It's great for intercepting buffs, and flying CAP. The ammo load and its ability to fly forever on %75 fuel makes it a great all around plane.

If not confined to AH, the A-26.

For AH, P-47D-30.

190G8 if we're talking planes in general.

190A8 otherwise.

P47D-30.........my heart is STILL with this bird.........although after the last 2 days in the F4U-1D, I would have to say that it would be a very close race between the two.  The D Hawg handles like the Jug did back in 1.03, at least it feels that way to me.  And, since I abhor any Hispano armed plane, and both the Jug and -1D are armed with .50 cal's, they fit my mental image of what American fighters were like back then.

Guess it's got to be the F4U-1C... has lots of range... can carry fuel tanks... killer cannons... 2x1000lb bombs... rockets... pretty fast... fairly nimble...

well.... you did say overall and that would leave only one choice.   you need to have range, durability, speed, weapons load, all field (including carriers) capability, all alt performance, ground attack capability etc.   If you could get a jug to take off from a carrier it would make a close second to the Corsair.

A-26B A-26B A-26B!

x16 .50's uber alles!

In absence of a A-26B I'll take a Me-410, in absence of a 410 I'll take a P-47D-25 or a B-26 for luftweenie suppression.

One bird, not one type, no XYZMk I and MkII and MkIII to do more things better, just one plane.

Any ability has to have been at least been factory built and tested, no "they could have tried...".
