Shortass field, downhill slope, could've been Corky landing. Needless to say the wife was surprised.

I remember a windy day at Yucca Valley, CA, with a full value wind on a complete perpendicular cross wind.  I trusted the lineage and flew my Grumman right into the runway and landed hard.  No skin wrinkled or struts bent, so all was good.  Felt pretty good about that one, considering I was flirting with the demonstrated crosswind component from the POH.

There is a runway in Pacific City Oregon that I thought was nasty. . .but that place looks like a nightmare!

Are you talking about the one I posted?  hehe  That's a pretty good strip.  You should see some of the others I've been on....like this one:

It's exactly as wide as the main gear on a Cessna, about 600-700' long, crooked and very rough...big whoop-de-do in the middle.

Just to be clear.  Corky never broke a real plane when he flew them all those years ago :)

I did bounce my first solo landing, but I was pretty good at getting the old Piper Warrior II in and out of the airport intact.  The instructor used to get mad at my downwind, base and final turns though and would tell me I wasn't flying a P51 and to square them off! :)
