Now you provide a screen shot that shows an OVERCLOCKED X4 940 that barely beats a stock i7 (a 2.6Ghz), in scores.    That SS is a joke if you look at what the "Common System" is to start with.   I enjoy the fact that you are still comparing apples to oranges.

Follow your own advice.    You're the one providing an Overclocked AMD to a non-Oc'd i7 that isn't comparable in speed to the 3.0G AMD.

No problem... EVGA has in their forums a step by step guide to OC a 920 to 4.5 on air.  This is not my prefered method since the CPU will run very hot with Jacobs settings but it will show you and give a good starting point to OC this processor.

well if your going for a new setup the best way to go is i7 cause the price range for the high non i7's isnt worth investing in since the upgrade path is going with a whole different board and memory.  the 920 i7 is cheaper then the cost of high end x9x00- quads.. the chips themselves

wonders why theres not more post of the 940 and 965 doing the same thing?

honestly  i think it would hurt the 940 and 965 sales intels bread and butter


i know AMD has a simular problem with losing money with people buying the lower priced  X3 and with certain boards/bios users can unlock the disabled 4th core giving them a 4th core and hurting the sales of the higher end X4's. AMD quicky put out a note to the manufactors to fix the bios

Initial cost of investment.  When you can get a 920 for 230.00 and clock it to 4.5GHz and not get to much more from the higher end models and your in the business of selling MB's I would do all my work on the low end processors showing how much you can push them.

Jacob knows his stuff I have seen him personally work a board and he knows his way about a BIOS and the voltages and tweeking settings
