Pool Care need help
« on: April 29, 2009, 06:58:10 AM »
Hey there folks  :salute

Ive been tasked with opening my father in laws pool this year and have absolutly
zero experiance in pool care. Its a 32' above ground pool. My father in law passed away last week ( at 58yrs old) and he would have wanted me to make sure its up and running for his grand babies aka my twins.

I am very handy and can fix or do most anything, but this one has me stumped, the most experiance i have is helping take off the cover, and bringing my wife and mother in law drinks while they relax on the deck.

Any tips or suggestions?

Remove the cover and scrub both sides of it with brooms and soap and water(I think we used a mix of dish soap and a little bleach).  we lived on a quiet street and could wash and let it dry in the middle of the street.   Reconnect the filter, you might need to get new sand depending on how old it is. Fill the pool to the proper level. Take a clean jar of the water to the local pool supply place for testing. Give the pool a good vacuuming, add the chemicals as needed.  Should at least get ya started.  Enjoy.
