HTC---Another possible use for Perk Points!
« on: December 25, 2000, 09:50:00 AM »
Some pilots like flying a standard plane of there choice and a Perk Ride may mean very little. Presumably this pilots are accumulating points and there may be a way to reward them without a PERK RIDE! Many times I loose an Aileron, Radiator, or Gun and land. I must EXIT to repair my ship completely. I would like the option to use "PERK POINTS" to pull up to the Fuel and Ammo shack and get my ride fixed and have the points deducted per part for fixing them. The only PERK here is that I am on the same "Kill Streak" until I die! Yes this effects the scoring but the advantage of a Perk Plane does too!

This could be good for all for these reasons:

  • The Replaning Pilot stays on the same sortie and the same Kill Streak if he lives to land.
  • The enemy that kills the replaning pilot gets more points for his Perk Ride.

What does everyone think?

Good idea....I am for anything that encourages folks to bring thier rides home (more realistic, IMHO).

I dont like using perk points to repair non-perk planes. Perk points to repair PERK planes would be really good to have though.

What would be cool is to get more points if you get, say, more than 3 kills per sortie. A modifier of getting a 1.5X points per kill after the 3rd kill would then make people want to not only fly smart (aka, no quaking), but to want to nurse their rides home and LAND. =).

During the Repair work, the pilots should also be allowed to change their ordenance (from Fighter to Fighter Bomber, etc), as the plane is in the hangar.

Well then, don't use your points to repair your non-perk plane.

More options is usually better, this is a good idea!

well yeah, but I'd like to see "free" repairs for non-perk planes and perkpoint-costing repairs for perk planes. Otherwise you end up spending lots of perk points just to stay on your kill streak...which will yield higher perk point. Only then you end up with way less =P
