Getting more memory, a video card, and a sound card would drastically improve your gaming experience. However, a video card might be more expensive than it seems since your power supply is probably 350W or lower.

You can get a XION 1000W PSU on TigerDirect for 100 dollars,it's made by a company in China called SuperFlower, and although you would think it would be some piece of crap, everything I have read about them is good, all the results and charts next to name-brand PSUs are neck and neck, and these even beat them in some areas

Reviews only tell you what is happening within the first year of ownership. What happens after that is a nightmare. Buy American and avoid the heart-ache of replacing EVERYTHING inside the computer case.

What kind of frames rates are you achieving now?  What is your worst case frame rate you'd accept as playable?
What are your current ingame settings.  Go to your graphic detail page and list what you have checked and unchecked.  Also, what are your settings in the video options that you can access when first loading the game, prior to entering any lobby or arena?

Hardware options I see you being able to make are Upgrading to more memory.  You could add a Sound card via the PCMCIA slot, as long as you have one that is not being used, but you'll want to avoid the cheaper ones as they may reduce sound performance when compared to your current sound card.  I've never seen anyone upgrade their video card in a laptop.

As for the software side, you can try to have less programs, processes and services running during your AH experience.

If you wish to have a guiding hand in any of these routes, there are many people here to help you each step of the way.

I think you won't be able to play with the more advance video features due simply to your video card's slow and old age specs.   It's a very poor gaming video card.

Things to experiment with:

1)Defrag your computer (do this twice, with a restart inbetween defragging)
2)remove any CCC software from ATI.  Use the ATI tray tools instead.  Search this forum for more details about CCC and it's reduced performance.
3)Video Card drivers (Newer can be better, but many times it will not be and may cause more problems)
Time's fun when you're having flies.

That's a notebook computer. Your using system memory for your video card as well as your sound. Really bad. Maybe not feasible to upgrade it any further. Depending on your budget I would invest in a desktop. You can put together a rather nice AMD system for low bucks.

Getback,
I love AMD only because of it's use to lower Intel prices.   ;)

And to correct your statement, his video card has 128mb of built-in memory, not from system memory.

But, his video card's 128mb of builtin memory isn't the reason for the lack of advance video options, as it has more to do with his slow processing speed and low quantities of pipelines found in the reduced functionality in the x1300, and it also lacks even more features due to the "mobility" version for notebooks to address power requirements, i.e. battery life and heat issues.  Why do companies still say things like "great for 3d gaming" for this product, imo it's a sells pitch that has "some" truth to it, but realistically, one can not know unless you look at the details of the hardware product and compare it to the system requirements found on whichever game you're trying to play.  But even if you do perform the research, I use further reasoning and go with the 2nd-3rd highest card in a specific series that model falls into.  This allows me to find a card that ultizes the most of the current GPU and avoid the high premium costs of the leet graphic cards.  The X1300 is at the bottom of the x1000 series.   If battery life and no need for high end 3d gaming is a priority, then it would be a great choice!

ah rgr, should have researched before I opened my yap on the card. Being a notebook I just assumed. Lesson learned. (Again).

Exactly what I was thinking on the AMD system. The newer 7500 ones I heard don't have a bug like the older ones. Still not confirmed though. For the money it's a great way to go in mho. I do prefer intel at this point but I understand budgets (and I don't know what his budget is).

In a laptop about your only option will be to add RAM to whatever the maximum is that the motherboard supports.
