using alt tab
« on: August 17, 2009, 05:17:08 PM »
just wondering if anybody else experiences this:  when game is up and running and you need to use the alt tab to go to desktop for whatever and then you alt tab to get back to the game it takes like many many minutes for the terrain and things to appear normal.  They are all whited out.   i've taken screen shots but when i go back to view them you don't see anything wrong so it's pointless to post them.

It's always been like that.  Prior to the update, the screen would redraw within a few seconds but after the update takes about 30 seconds.

You probably have a slower video card...shouldn't take more than 30 seconds for the objects to get rendered again after you do alt+tab.

It takes at least 5 minutes for textures to reload here...but I've always had slow loading textures since the new version.

The new Update (2,14) is designed to load slower after Alt+Tabbing out of the game.  I believe it was Pyro who mentioned this was one of HiTech's less evil ideas for the new patch.  It isn't going to be made to load slower again unless HT chooses.

The instant reload of all instantly would cause a large warp, to just shorten the load times would increase the chances of stutters. I have been considering instant reload when in the tower.

hitech,

I had the reverse happen...

Before a couple of patches ago my alt-tab load time was insanely slow.

Then one patch, forget which, it went back to pre-update speed of around 3-5 seconds.
