please change AR-234 bomb dropping order
« on: August 17, 2009, 12:55:55 AM »
You can carry three bombs on the AR-234.  The first one you drop comes from one of the wings.  The second one you drop comes from the fuselage.  The last one left is on the other wing.

This isn't a very logical drop order.  One ramification of it is that when you're on your last bomb, it actually skews the way the plane flies a little bit so that your bombsite calibration ends up being off.

Is there any good reason why the two wing bombs ought not to be the first ones dropped, leaving the fuselage bomb for last?

Most of my AR-234 bombing is against CV groups where I'm dropping them all together, but when I do missions where I'm dropping them one at a time, this has always annoyed me.

Can this bomb drop order on the AR-234 be added to the to-do list, even if it's at the bottom, on the last page somewhere?

Umm...ATM it goes:
Fuselage
Left
Right

I'm fine with the drop order ATM even tho I mostly fly it as a fighter...I suppose a change COULD be made...won't affect me much

Crap, I will have to go retest this.  I will admit I may have been recollecting the precise drop order falsely.  I thought one wing dropped first, but I may be wrong.  What's most important is that the last bomb is on a wing, unbalancing the plane enough that it throws off the bomb aim a little.

I will admit that the difference between what it is now and what I propose would be subtle, because a wing would still be dropped first, leaving the other wing a little unbalanced.  At least leaving the fuselage bomb for last would allow the imbalance to be lessened a bit by having 1100 lbs hanging from the fuselage so the bomb hanging off one wing doesn't change the balance by as much.  Anyone who has bombed much with the AR-234 will agree that leaving the last bomb on a wing kind of sucks.
