That won't be the case if a group of gunners and a dedicated controller who know what they're doing get into it. :D But the likelihood of that happening in the MAs is pretty low.
True. but at the same time i you have 8 TBMs, 4 on each side then where is that darn CV gonna go to get away from them  water buggies? Now just try to get people to actually do this. It was actually a used WWII tactic against ships. While multiple torpedo planes came in on multiple angles the dive bombers would attack from altitude at the exact same time. Either group would be targeted by the enemy allowing the other to be successful. Which in all cases i've read, the torp planes didn't make it out...

Normerly on most CVs you'd only see 1 maybe 2 gunners...half the time they never turn it. But in a big battle, usually the ships are chuck full of 5"ers.

My two cruisers survived multiple/constant sorties from Brooke's Japanese Torpedo Bomber squadron during the final frame of Coral Sea. In that case you would actually want to either keep going straight (2 torpedo hits at most) or use a tight zig-zag to slow the task group down and attempt to turn in between two fish. Destroyers also make great torpedo sponges.

But, as I said, that can only be pulled off by an expert task force driver with manned gun positions to keep the aircraft at a decent range or kill them. Even then, my groups survived more from dumb luck I'd figure. :D

Haha yeah i don't know if dumb luck saved you or a skilless enemy :aok I'm not trying to start anything im just tired so it may sound rude here but setting up the torpedo runners in this formation you have a very good chance of hitting the CV. Of course the more planes the better... But a normal MA CV group of 4 DD 1 CA and 1 CV can have 8-16 torp planes attack evenly on each side and some to the front and it WILL be hit if done right, maneuvers or not by the best CV commander in game. In junction with dive bombers such as SBDs if CV to CV or P38s or later model P47s the CV will go down quickly. BUT, it's a rarity to see MA pilots not in a functional squad or group actually use these tactics let alone using them effectively... But then again 15 110G-2 models with guns only can strafe the CV down :lol I launched a mission to do this :aok best CV takedown years ago i was in before the recent 200 spit MkIX kamikaze run

You could use 16 slow, low, vulnerable torp planes or one set of good bombers. I am amazed by some bomber guys, how they manipulate the CV turn and what not.

Yes but if not available in a quick timeframe you need to react to a CV attack quickly... if only you could get 20-30 people to coordinate a fast response effort like said above itd be down in minutes of the attack's start. Say CV to CV 8 torpers, 8 divers, 8-12 F6F or F4U escorts. or if land based 10 Ju88 groups and escorts. But the time necessary to mass this amount of firepower and manpower to accomplish such a task can only be done by a squad (or 3) that are well oiled and experienced in fast response efforts. An idea i've been wanting to try with my squad...  :lol maybe HTC can open up a tactical forum to develop in game tactics cuz i have many ideas...

or a skilless enemy :aok

If they didn't pick up skills in their many hours of training, there's something wrong.

i remember one time (a WHILE back) there was a port under heavy attack but most of the planes attacking it were attacking the CV low and strafeing and rockets etc. well when i went to gun in a gunner position i noticed that ALL the guns on the cv where operational and actually firing at somthing (or someone) logged came back after an hour or so and it was still there EPIC battle at that cv later that day survived that to no film though  :(
