Video settings & weird graphics
« on: October 05, 2009, 05:34:49 PM »
This is what I see when I log into the game.  I have 2 9500GT's SLI'd together.  It didnt do this until I added the 2nd card.  Any nvidia control panel suggestions?

I suggest you uninstall your drivers and then clean your system of all drivers with something like Driver Cleaner ( http://www.drivercleaner.net ) and then reinstall fresh drivers that you have downloaded from the manufacturer of your video card (not nvidia).

Then follow my suggestions here (ignoring the part about the sound card): http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,275206.msg3451447.html#msg3451447

thanks for the quick reply chalenge.  I tried all your suggestions, and while the crazy looking terrain went away, a new problem surfaced.  When I start the game I get these little horizontal green lines which are about an inch and a half a part on the entire screen which seem to scroll up from the bottom to the top (which other way would scroll up mean??...lol).  When the terrain and shapes progress bars start to move while the game is loading the lines go away, but as soon as the game starts the entire screen has a green tint to it, as if I am looking through green window tint.  I set the nvidia panel to how you showed in the other post, and then went and restored the control panel defaults...no change, green tint either way.  The drivers were put out on 5 Oct so I think they are good.  My screen refresh is locked at 60.

My next step is to pull out the recently installed card and see if the game does it with just one card I guess.  I really wanted to have the SLI working though, but if I can't play the gam ethen I will go with 1 card.

Bear in mind this is asking a lot of 9500s so probably the green bars are indications they are working too hard (or that they are not EXACTLY the same card). Just back off the settings slowly or start from the bottom and move them up slowly until you get to something you can live with.  I have never owned a 9500 so I can only guess but I would think you could get the SLI functions just above the 'active' line (8x on SLI antialiasing and 4x filtering). The rest of the settings should not hurt performance but should help maintain stability.

I adjusted the setting and it still does it, but only in AH.  My son jumps on World of Warcraft and it works just fine, as does Fallout 3 and CoD 5.

Any suggestions before I revert back to 1 card.  I was thinking of just using the newer card alone to see if it was trouble free, then possibly swapping positions of the 2 cards.  I had the same setup before I had to RMA one of the cards and it worked just fine.

Switch the position of the cards and run only one card at a time. Its possible the SLI bridge could be defective but I dont know what the odds would be. It would take four of these cards to be the equal of a single 9800 GT. You could post a dxdiag report also.

I swapped the cards around and its rinning fine.  Mabye it just wasn't seated all the way or something.  What would be a good card to upgrade to with dropping a ton of cash?

I have not shopped around lately but I think the 9800s should be approaching $100 by now and even one should be a little better than the two you have right now.
