Ricocheting bullets
« on: November 07, 2009, 11:37:37 PM »
Before my comp troubles, i could fly well and shoot the bad guys down and fly off into the sunset. But there would always be that time when I was about to get the kill and... uh-oh, this friendly drops out of nowhere to try and get the kill, my bullets hit him, they bounce back at me, engine dead, Im in flames, crash and burn.  :cry This happens way too often for my liking. If this is a stupid topic, just let it drop, but if it is a legitimate problem, reply.

Umm there not ricocheting, it's a friendly-fire feature that discourages allies shooting at each other. Of course this happens by accident on occasion but you just need to be careful is all.

It's called "Kill Shooter" or just "KS" for short.

The way it works, any damage you inflict onto a friendly is applied to your own vehicle. It's a anti-griefer mechanism.

The solution if you are having this problem is

(1) communication between friendlies in the immediate vicinity
(2) situational awareness - know where your friendlies are, and be aware of what they are trying to do

Good ol' Captain Killshooter, the 'Instant Court-Martial for Carelessness'. No appealing to that court, eh?

Also dont just pull the trigger for 2, 3 or 4 seconds while in furball, you're bound to hit a friendly more often, (I see this happens a lot specially people who fly ponies and p47 with their unlimited ammo).  I'll kill shoot myself once or twice a month but then again I like shooting short burst and never too close over friendly's head.  btw I get ks more often in tanks due to sometimes I cant see a friendly's icon when close and he's in the trees.
