Biggest thing that bugs me about it is that, like the Star Wars prequels, ALL the media is going to forget about everything else and focus on this, and to hell with 40-odd years of film and television history.

Look at Star Trek Online. Their "Original" era uses the damned new ship designs (which are just godawful to begin with).

Oh, I would, but it hasn't quite been around as long as the longest running sci-fi show on THE PLANET! It's still great though, as is Star Trek of course.
