TV capture cards.
« on: December 28, 2009, 02:53:33 PM »
I got a TV capture card for Christmas and the damned thing does not work at all.  Anyone have a card that works on a

1 gig card

 ?

I tried installing a Kworld card it sees a picture during set up but after performing the scan I see fuzz.  I have tried many different configurations as far as strait analog (from the street) as well as running it out of the back of the TV cable box.  Neither worked. When performing the scan it picks up (0) channels.  Anyone have any success on an XP machine?  If so what kind of card and how's the picture?  I want a clear picture and the ability to record TV through my cable box on my PC.  Watching while recording and having instant pause replay is a must.

Hauppauge is the ONLY way to go. I have a system setup as a media center organizer that records from a WinTV-PVR USB2 (not available anymore) and that comes with an IR Blaster and remote. Now Hauppauge has out a dual tuner that allows you to watch and record two channels at the same time and its W7 compatible (PCI-E x1 required).

Never dealt with 'Kworld' before so I have no input on them or your problem.  But to reinterate what Chalenge posted, Hauppauge is the way to go.  I've owned only 1 TV card in the past and I've used others on different machines.  The one I owned was a ATI TV Wonder which was pretty garbage.

Yea, from all the reviews I have read they all are a disappointment.  I do not have PCI-E only PCI.  Anyone know of a good PCI card?

This might help you out - they are all USB or PCI (caveat - I know nothing about them)

If you can find a WinTV-PVR USB2 you will be happy with it.
