If your Logitech 3D Pro bounces, READ THIS
« on: January 19, 2010, 08:24:09 PM »
I have had a 3DPro, non feedback and it worked great in the beginning.  Some of you might have seen my posts about it bouncing and I found out why...and how to set it up properly for THIS GAME.  Additionally, it is highly recommended that you go to Logitech's site and download:  CLRCALIBRTION utility.  It wipes the registery clean of any prior calibrations.  Apparently, each calibration over-writes the last and that, over time, can create issues with Logitech sticks.  Now for the setup:

1)  Clear ALL your settings in the joystick area by clicking the default button..now, this will cause you to have to reset ALL your preset buttons...but its completely worth it;
2)  Exit the game
3) Use the Clear Calibration Utility from where ever you downloaded it to..I put it on the desktop
4) DO NOT CALIBRATE IN THE WINDOWS UTILITY...Go straight back into the game
5) Go to the joystick setup area and calibrate the joystick immediately (not the individual axis)
6) Now perform any scaling (sliders) you like to setup.
7) Calibrate EACH INDIVIDUAL AXIS as you scale them or one at a time if you don't scale them
8) Remap preset buttons
9) Click OK

Gentlemen...I am absolutely amazed at the difference...no bounce, smooth movements, and great response...I was looking at about 4 different sticks to buy because I need two..one at home and one when I travel and use on my laptop (no, my boss doesnt know why I needed a new laptop...it was coincidence that it occurred right after the first update) and having a rudders etc at home and a twisty on the road meant learning both mappings...now the 29$ joystick works like a champ (and goes right through airport security)

I fly a lot with Bentnail and he performed the same set of instructions and it smoothed his Saitek X52 out as well, sans the clear calibration because its only for Logitech sticks.  This works...

Nose bounce, rudder yaw or any movement that causes your pip site to come off the target when you are trying to keep it on target.  It also causes very un-smooth flying so loss of airspeed, although minimal, is still there.

I have a logitech Extreme 3D Pro and I always have to Recalibrate on entry before going into AH2,using the game utilities in Control Panel,This is a real pain

I do have the clear calibration utility,I have used it only to have the same problems..Basically having to disconnect the USB and reconnect every time to have perfect calibration, but that always seem to get corrupted after awhile.

Ive also noticed that this joystick is not very percise in zoom mode...to much sensitivity it just goes all over the place when aiming  ...anyways thats my comment for this stick.

Polsat:

I have the same zoom issue no matter how well its calibrated.  I am trying very hard NOT to have to buy a new stick..probably too hard.  Money isn't the problem its the re-education of a new system and because I don't have to have one for home and a different one for the road.  If I am going to buy a new one, its going to be throttle and stick...and THAT system may get attention at the airport! lol

Now, one thing I tried last night was deleting the stick profiles in the game directory and starting over.  That worked great too...its just a pain in the arse.

PS - I don't know if works on the CH products...probably not so much would be my guess

When I grow up I want to be a Saitek or a Ch Joystick.

Whats interesting is I had a better kill ratio when I used just my keyboard to play...In any vehicle.

Since I ve used my joystick.. Ive had nothing but problems trying to revert back to my mouse and Keyboard but I still try...

Cool.  After doing some homework, it will clear the registry of calibrations done by ANY joystick and allow you to start over.

Also, I spoke with Skuzzy yesterday and found out why some of us have to recalibrate every time we come into the game...there is some software blocking HTC from writing our calibrations to the files on our hard drives...antivirus etc is blocking/or changing the files to READONLY.  Not a small task to figure out which one and why but I suppose it can be done.  ANyway, changing sticks wont fix this.
