Won't start in Win 7
« on: February 25, 2010, 10:00:27 AM »
I just did upgrade from Win 7 RC to the commercial package.  AH opens first window, then  closes and nothing more, and Windows reports it as "stopped working" and starts a resolution search, then comes back with no resolution.

Anyone else having this problem?

MS has said not to upgrade the RC version. If you didn't change anything else maybe you just need to do a clean install.

In addition to what FLS posted, make sure to install AH some place other than the "Program Files" folder.  See this link http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,71591.msg2932059.html#msg2932059 for further info on why.  It'll save you future headaches...

You also need to make sure you install all the native drivers for the video and sound card.  Just run a DXDIAG and see if all the devices are working properly.

About 45 degrees down, to the right, from the sound chip, twos rows below the round chip which is directly right of the wound up chip and directly left of it, is the zound chip.  I can draw a map if needed.

Testing the new computer today...

I found if I right click on the Aces High icon, and choose "Run as administrator" it solved my problem which sounded the same as yours in Win 7.
