Week 1: So Sore!!
« on: April 10, 2010, 10:37:44 AM »
Well after a year long break from weight lifting, I finally renewed my membership for 24 hour fitness and my first week back on is now at a close...

I AM SO #@% SORE!

But it is that great feeling of being sore, like you know that you did a great workout. For me a year ago at the end of the week if I was not at least a little bit sore, I was not satisfied with the workout.

I pretty much going on the same routine that I did a year ago, 5 days on 1 day off, 6 days on 2 days off...rinse and repeat

I start my workouts with 20 min of cardio on the treadmill, I usually get around 2 miles, then I take a 5 minute cooldown and start with my workout depending on the day or what I did the day before. The first day I usually do Upper body, then day 2 I go to lower body, then I just alternate from there. On the last day before the break I do both upper and lower body.

It feels so good to be back at the gym! :D

Been there done that, about to do it again.  Why do you have to hurt so bad to feel so good?   :headscratch:

I've been feeling the need to get back in the gym lately myself.  I just have to get jump started into finding it a place is all.  That's the hardest part.

I've been off for somewhat more than a year though.  It's been over 3 years since I've really done any regular lifting, and that was a year of lifting after a layoff due to knee surgery that ended up stretching into several years.  At least I managed to put on a lot of weight in that time off  :)

I know how bad that first week is, but if you keep on top of your protein and creatine it'll minimize that nasty early on soreness.  Once you get past that initial break in period, man that later on soreness is a great feeling.  That was always one of my favorite things, that feeling.

Keep at it man, and post progress updates now and then.  Maybe you can be the final straw to get me back in the gym too.
