oh - I'm wrong, actually - those were my DX8 Beta framerates - I'm actually down in the 40 - 50 range now... sorry.

Have to ask Straffo, how do you get access to that resolution in Aces?  I can go 1024 or 1280, with nothing in between..

Open the video7.cfg in notepad and Voila ! You can set whatever resolution you want  
(like 320*200 <= I tried and it reminded me Aces over Pacific  )

sometimes on ground attacks missions I'll do the SHIFT-F3 to reduce draw range to keep FR high around smoke.  Overall I prefer the higher res to allow easier identification of NME manuvers

Another noteworthy thing is none of the newer generation drivers would work for me until I disabled palletised textures in the AH video settings
