Wondering for ppl using this card what kind of average fps your getting.

I've been fiddling with the settings on the card and raised my fps just a little bit but still getting fairly low numbers.

Would like to know if anyone has made some settings changes that really increased performance.  I'm also using the 1.05 (think that's right) newest drivers.

Average:

8 on take off
15-18 in side views
36 high on straight up

Forgot to add that I'm running a 350mhz AMDk-6 and 156 MB ram.   8 fps on takeoff but I jump to usually 15-18 after leaving the ground.

hey Wingnut, I use this card. I have the new driver too, and i am getting aprox:
18 0n takeoff
30 straight ahead
45-50 straight up

I am not sure what res I am running it in, as it has been so long since I checked, but I have a weak system, so I am not sure why your frame rate is so low. I'll look into it a bit.

I run in 1280 and get @ 24 fps average, 18 or so on takeoff.  Been playing with my monitor refresh rates to try to improve things.  I should just drop the resolution but I haven't got around to it.

Celeron 400
160MB RAM
Voodoo3 2000 PCI latest driver

I've tried dropping the resolution also but that seems to make it worse not better on my system.  It could just be my AMDk-6 but I'll keep trying to tweak.  Was curious though.  I really feel the lower fps, even though it's not a slideshow affects my gunnery, etc.  Or at least it's a good excuse..hehe

The K6 series of processors is not that good for AH.  They have a pretty weak floating point unit, which is essential for this sim.

Hiya wingnut,
Its not the card, although they are lowend for this game. The AMD K series are just very poor performers for all flightsims. Their FPU (floating point unit) performance is awful and no amount of tweaking can help. Start saving for a new Mobo/CPU/RAM combo...its the only solution. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I really haven't had that tough of a problem with it actually kb.  But apparently it does affect me getting the most out of my card.

I only really have had problems with my AMD and the AW based games (meaning AW, WB and AH).  And those problems are only the lower frame rate.

I actually play Falcon 4.0 quite well on my system even with cockpit reflections on and it's very smooth.  But guess I'll just have to live with the smaller fps because I sure can't afford a newer comp or newer board anytime soon.

Thx,

Wingnut
