Processor Heat?
« on: October 22, 2001, 11:47:00 AM »
What's a "good" temperature for a 900Mhz (not o/cled) Athlon to be at?

When I was doing simple installs and stuff, my CPU temp never went above 113degrees F... after about an hour of running AH then 15 minutes of trying B17-II, it was up to 120degrees Fahrenheit...

What's a good temperature for it to be at? Inside the case it went from 85degrees F, to 93degrees F... I am going to add another case fan tonite and leave the side panel off.

Thanks for any info... For future reference, if I o/c it, what temp should I try to keep it at?

You should try to keep your CPU as cool as possible obviously if youre going to oc =)

120 F is not a bad temperature for an aircooled system. If the temp won't go much higher during high load, you're ok.

I'm running my processor core at 83 F at the moment with a slight overclock 1.4Ghz -> 1.56Ghz

Okay, thanks.

I assume you are using either water cooled or a cryo-system?

I was thinking of building my own water cooling setup inside of my new box... then I just decided I'll add 3 more case fans and let the blow on the CPU. :-)

Thanks for advice though.

I'm intrigued by this cooling malarkay. I presume a case fan should SUCK hot air out rather than BLOW hot air in. Or should one suck and one blow (if you have two)? Not that Ive had any problems, although I did try a modest overclock of my FSB from 100 to 103 only to get CTD from AH after 5 Min play. I reset to 100 and no problems ever since. I think stability is a much under rated virtue!
