Simped gameport pedals via Gameport to USB converter
« on: August 28, 2010, 05:32:39 PM »
Is anyone using the old gameport version of these pedals and has managed to get them working via a gameport to USB converter?

I contacted Gunter at DHS Electronic and he suggested the Superjoybox7 converter as some customers of his had found some success using this converter (he had not tried it himself). I purchased the converter and can get the pedals to be recognised using the following dip switch settings:
1010
0011
0010
0011

My problem is that I cannot get the rudders to centre. I've tried using the centre dial on the rudder and can set it to be anywhere from 0-34 or between 144-255 but I cannot set it to the 127 mid point. I'm still in contact with Gunter and we are trying to find a solution but I was curious if anyone else has run into this problem?

If anyone can suggest a software solution to this (i.e setting an offset in the HID driver somehow) I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

Don't think so but you might want to check out the group over at SimHQ.com in their forums. They have a group of guys in the Pit Builders section that have those same pedals and have been working through the same issues.

Thanks for the lead. I'll have a look and see if they have any information.

Thanks again

I didn't have centering problems with mine, but I wasn't really keen on it, either.  It seemed to have a noticable lag, and did not seem to have any more than about 6 bit precision.   Add in the fact that I "lost" the toe brakes that my CH unit had, and I decided it was just plain time to retire the simpeds back to the closet.

I have noticed a degradation in the precision but that is something I can live with for a while if I can get the centering problems sorted. Eventually I'll have to upgrade to the USB version but they are not cheap so I was hoping to put it off for a while.

Anyway, thanks for the replies guys.
