Need Help
« on: June 30, 2000, 04:19:00 PM »
As I posted before Im putting a system together. Ive got about $400 in store credit for Gateway so I need help in deciding on a vid card and joystick.
Joystick: The only models they have are the MS PP Force Feedback and the Wingman Extreme Digital 3d. Anyone have these? If so pros and cons?
Vid Card: I dont have an open AGP slot so I can either get a Diamond Stealth 3 w/ 32 MB or a VooDoo3 2000 w/16MB.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I had the MS FF Pro stick, and used it a few times.  It worked nicely and comes with a program to map the buttons.  It doesn't have springs, but uses the FF motors for centering, which gives it kind of an interesting handling - I liked it.  I don't use it tho', as I don't like Force Feedback, and prefer a seperate stick/throttle/rudder setup.  If I had to choose between MS and Logitech, I'd probably go MS...however, I've never used the Logitech stick you mention.

GeForce 2 or Voodoo4 5500 for video and wait for the new Thrustmaster HOTAS 2000 sticks later this year.

I have the GeForce 2 GTS DDR 32MB and couldn't be happier. 50+fps at max everything!

If those are your only options for the video card I would suggest going with the V3 2000.  Better driver support from 3dfx and you always have the option of adding a second V3 2000 and using both cards in SLI for better performance in the future.

Hi sob,

have a MS FF pro. Use it without any centering from the motor at all and im very cofident so far. The input is very precise.
Only drawback is that it lacks more buttons very bad.
