Looking for a good set of rudder pedals..Advice needed
« on: October 26, 2000, 11:12:00 AM »
My wonderful, loving wife who hates my hobby wants to buy me a set of rudder pedals for christmas.(women, go figure,  ) Now, being the frugal guy that i am, i am looking for something that will work with the joystick i already have [MS FFB (non-USB)], and be sturdy enough to cope with my total lack of experience with them. I've heard nothing but good things about the CH products (never seen them in a store tho), and i've also read good things about the Simped-Vario set of pedals from Germany, any of you all have any experience with these? and what pedals would you recommend to use with what i have right now?

Thanks in advance!

Hamish!

I *think* you're pretty much limited to the Hofmann Simped pedals, since they have an adapter to make them work with Microsoft Sidewinder joysticks.

I wouldn't be disappointed by this tho'.  The CH Pro Pedals are constructed nice enough, but they're too close together and don't have enough spring tension.  This makes them feel crappy when you first put your feet on them, and if you're gonna use them for a long period of time it just gets worse as you're forced to keep your feet so close together.

Hamish,

I would recommend the CH stuff. Good solid design that is tough and durable. I have had TM stuff (a new stick that won't work with TM pedals) and CH sticks. I'm staying with CH. Good support with CH, Terrible support with TM and you will need TM support more than you will need the CH.
