11/30/2010 Titanic Tuesday's Epic Mission
« on: November 30, 2010, 11:11:54 PM »
Gentleman,

First of all thank you to all the squads and individuals that joined up.  I receive a great amount of satisfaction from seeing the massive
amount of participation of both allies and foes.  I have the raw film available its just under 50 megabytes and I will post some screen
shots also.  I will be off next Tuesday for another Epic Mission and I am looking forward to the same amount of participation.  I am also going
to post our maps we use for the targeting the strats and start a running list of targets.  If you would like a specific target please pm me and
I will just keep appending to this thread for next Tuesday's Epic Mission.

Here is the film raw footage that you can download and view in the Aces High II Film Viewer:
http://www.mediafire.com/?h30ut11y3rk1kic

Some screenshots of the mission:

Targeting Maps used for Strat Runs:
For single targets we need 26 Sets of b-17's for total annihilation of the strats. If we don't get enough we just double up
on the city center with 500lbers and take down two blocks at a time.

City Center Targeting Map:

Radar Factory Targeting Map:

Anti-Aircraft Targeting Map:

Fuel Refinery Targeting Map:

Ordnance/Troop Training Map:

If you would like to bomb a specific strat target please reply to this thread or pm me and I will keep the thread updated throughout the week.
Please keep in mind this is a mission for the Rook Air force.  Keep in mind also squad members will have preference on targets.  The city loadout
will be 250lbers if we get enough for all columns if not the loadout will be for 500lbers.  The outlying strats loadout will be for 1,000lbers and
you will be expected to expend all 6,000 lbs of ordnance on your selected target.  This is to ensure one pass over the target then a turn for
home base.

Here is the current roster for target assignments for next weeks Epic Mission:

I recomend these fighter formations to protect the bombers.

Some nice work here.  Might I suggest that for the factories one go with 4 by 4 block grid instead of 3 by 3?  Each of the factories is 4 city blocks by 4.

For bombing the IC.  Using my delay calculator and 12 500 pound bombs I drop along the section line (street dividing the city blocks).  I select the delay for 7 city blocks.  Bombing along the section line one can then (on a good day) destroy 14 city blocks.

Just some ideas.

Thanks I appreciate the input on the outlying strats.  If we get enough bombers we might try that. As far as the City goes If we only have a few guys with the IC map we usually assign two columns apiece.  It is difficult
to explain to mission joiners when they don't quite understand the targets.  Usually, me and my squaddies end up taking 2 city blocks apiece in the city.  I am hoping to get these maps out though so more people can understand
their targets.  Getting all these buffs together is like trying to herd cats...yes I've tried that before...and no...please don't ask why.  As for target devastation we have found that three guys with a 1,000lb load out in the B-17's will
completely annihilate each strat factory if they get their ordnance spaced properly over the factory.  You can actually do it with 4 drops on each factory with 3 formations...but I am really asking for a lot trying to get very capable and experienced buff drivers to be able to do that.  So unfortunately depending on the Bomber pilots that show up and their level of experience I have to try to plan for the lowest common denominator...if u know what I mean.

The xls delay calculator u sent me...has it been updated for the new maps...I know the factories are the same size as the old town...I just wanted to check.

People today's the day never to late to take a part in this event. After this mission we will do a couple of missions in the MA honoring Pearl Harbor then go see which eventvin the SEA is going on. I recomend being with us for this day today, because we're gonna pretty much kill for this whole 24 hours. Got me and my redbull out as well. Let's get this party started.

If anybody has any and mean any good footage of this day, go ahead and send it to me.
