Dx 8a is the old version. 8.1 is the new one..

White screen sounds like trouble with network. Do you have a firewall proggie in the laptop and if so, is it configured to let aces high tcp / udp access to the net?

Try deleting the video cfg. file in the game then reboot. If that doesn't do it alone delete it again and see if you are trying to load as a 32 bit or a 16 bit. If your card works like the Voodoo's did it won't handle a 32 bit setting, try the 16 bit or vice versa if you are already using the 32 bit. Try using a low vieo setting as well and see if that makes a difference.

Good luck.

The card ( on my dell laptop )is MagicMedia 265AV 2.5 MB video mem.
I also see under DirectX Diagnostic tools:
Direct draw: Enabled
Direct 3DC accellerator: NotAvailable  :(
AGP Texture accell.: NotAvailable.

Hi Pazzo,
2.5mb Video ram??? I think AH recommends 16mb in it's current state (Although my Bro currently messes around offline using a PIII 450 with a 12mb Voodoo 2 with good results). So I would assume that's your problem as it is on a Lap Top I think basically your screwed  :( (Unless you wanbt to start throwing money at it. A decent desktop might be a cheaper alternative in the long run

Actually the file you want to delete is no longer named video.cfg.  It is now video7.cfg.
