Finally set-up head tracking; It's jerky as hell!
« on: December 25, 2010, 04:50:06 PM »
Hello, all. I've got a pretty decent set-up here using Freetrack's software in conjunction with a Microsoft Lifecam. When viewing the head tracking in Freetrack, the LED's are detected with no issues, and movement is quite smooth, but when I try to use this set-up in AH, the movement becomes jerky and laggy. My frame rate appears to stay the same, so I do not believe that this issue originates from an over-use of recources, and am at a loss as to what needs to be done to get the fluid motion I am seeing in FreeTrack.

Thanks for the help, it is much needed.  :(

Upon further investigation, I have determined that it is not the game that is lagging/jerky, as all movements (besides my pilot's virtual head, of course) are moving fluidly, as they should. This points to the head tracking as the problem here. Hope that helps identify the root problem here.

make sure you don't have a mirror or bright light source behind you, this causes my track ir to jump :old:

I went ahead and placed a piece of film in front of the lense to eliminate any visible light. All the camera can see is the LED's. At any rate, I think I fixed it, had to get rid of the, "adjust for low lighting" preset on the camera. Thanks for the response, though.
