Late Christmas present for the 80th FS guys
« on: January 04, 2011, 09:44:01 AM »
I was able to spend some time with William Wolf over the holidays and he showed me his 1200 page history of the 5th Fighter Command that will be published later this year! It will be a 3 volume set with plenty of great info and photographs be sure to watch for it from http://www.schifferbooks.com .

As an aside I helped him with some stuff and he was gracious enough to share his mission and combat reports. I have over a thousand pages of action reports for the 80th Fighter Squadron so you'll have plenty of reading in the near future. Here are a few examples;

This one is from 42

20K?  Alt monekys.   :neener:

Not only that, but that was obviously a Candy Mountain Mission of D3's that you guys messed up.  Poor sportsmanship.  Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.  :D

I was expecting to see "to reveal a US star" when one aircraft winged over.

He hasn't come up with a name for the book yet. I'll post it when it's finalized which should be later this month.

If someone had the time it'd be great to take all these AARs and organize them on a website for everyone to browse.

Eventually that's my plan but it's going to take some time to get organized. I have over eight thousand pages for the 5th AF Fighter Command so it's going to be a big task.

Ahh the great Danny Roberts, leading "Ping Pong" flight of the 80th.  Gotta remember that one :)

Thanks Baumer!
