TrackIR issue
« on: August 25, 2011, 10:51:16 AM »
Three separate times the Track clip Pro portion of my TIR broke on me. The problem is the swivel part, that holds the two IR prongs to the headset clip, only consists of two fragile little plastic clips that hold the IR reciever prongs in place and allows you to rotate them. And you only have to break one of these two clips to ruin the unit.

So I wrote to natural point, again, and told them the unit they fixed two times broke again. They replied that they redesigned the track clip pro cause they had so many problems with the old design, "same thing happened to a lot of customers", and they will send me a new one for free.

I just wanted to put this out there if anyone else had this problem. I dont use TrackIR for AH but do for other games.

I've had mine separate several times but neither of the clips has yet to break - although mine came with a lifetime warranty so I'm not too awfully worried about it!  I'm also pretty careful with it though - I always keep it clipped onto my headset and I'm the only one that uses it (no kids to mess it up).

i used a plastic motherboard mounting Push Pin ( used to secure the MB to case) never seen them before since Ive always used the brass screw ones, anyway it's barbed so once you push it in it will lock itself in place and not back out. i cut the black round cap off of the swing arm leading into the sensor unit ( the part where the Tabs break off), the plastic push mount was a perfect fit, just made two little openings for the wires and pushed it in the socket and locked into place and now i have infinite position adjustments, it's better than when it was new. I'll try and post a pic of how i reworked my Track IR

I agree but the only time I feel that TrackIR helps me in Aces High is while in a fighter.  During bombing or GVing I don't feel like it's beneficial at all.  Perhaps he mainly flies bombers or GVs?  But in a fighter I can't do without it...

Ya, but I played this game for so long without one that now Im just to used to the Hat controls. While do use it for Rise Of Flight I mostly used it for ground combat/individual soldiers. For some reason I have to much trouble keeping SA in AH with it.
