FSO and GVs
« on: September 10, 2011, 11:04:10 AM »
How about removing GV battles from FSOs altogether? GV battles certainly take away from the air action and the two have little to do with each other. Consider that air battles can go on for hundreds of miles while GV battles are settled within one or maybe two. They are incompatible, at least in the format we play them.

I really don't have anything against GV battles, I just bring forth the idea to have separate GV events. Using both GV and air battles in a FSO frame take away focus from both, and the fun meter drops for all involved.

Just my opinion, and I'm not a hardcore forum reader so have no idea whether this has been discussed previously or not but please contribute with your opinion on this because making events more fun for everyone should be in everyone's interest.

I stayed up all night last night just for FSO, which kick off at 5 am (0500 hrs) my time mind you, only to spend the entire frame looking for the enemy. And here I thought it was the Luftwaffe that was outnumbered! So essentially I stayed up all night for nothing. My squad later had some fun in the MA but that's beside the point because the MA suck no matter what, FSO is where it's at.

But gee, thanks for setting up a frame which was a complete waste of time. If you want people to come back, you must deliver.

I feel that for the most part, FSO events are designed with playability and fun in mind. Apart from that, it's the CiC for each side who come up with the squad assignments and orders for the frame, who ultimately create your fun (or your waste of time).

The GV battle this month is solely for fun after guys get shot down. If people can't show enough discipline to fly their assignments and just tower out after T+60 so they can play tank-commander, then perhaps THEY are the ones who should re-think their commitment to FSO.

I think the Admins deliver; it's the players who make it fun...or not...as the case may be.

Ok, then I misunderstood the role of the GV battle. If it's a secondary activity it should not take away from the air combat aspect. Thanks for pointing that out. This was my first FSO in I think over a year, and it didn't really get more exciting for me than flying with good friends again. So obviously I was disappointed with this frame and know that my entire squad was too. Whose fault it was, I don't know but they probably know themselves and should take this feedback to heart because what we want is more fun for everyone. Because isn't that what games are about?

IDK why the gv people are complaining. The GV's are in this FSO for FUN ONLY. They are not even scored. I say give it a rest and just say thank you to CM's for giving you something to do after you get owned.

Perdue, we all know that the gvs were for fun, to give those of us something to do in the special events vs going back to the MA. The problem is we have to drive a hella long way to get to the point of engagement. This means you only get one chance to do this. The planes flying around, strafing/spotting took away some of the enjoyment that the rest of us were having, and I dont care if they were allied or axis. Yes there was no scoring involved, but that wasn't the point of the whole thing. It was just for fun. But it turned out to be a complete waste of time. Sorta like defending a target for 2 hours that nobody shows up to attack.
We are not there score points, we just want to get our jollies. I will consider trying gvs again in frame 3, but if its going to be like it was in the first 2 frames whats the point? The MA is 2 clicks away....... :salute

And I do appreciate the CMs for their hard work in setting up these events. FSO is the best part of AH without a doubt. Thank you sirs! :salute :rock
