Teamspeak 3 Overlay Plugin

My squad is planning to upgrade from TS2 to TS3. I'm not sure if we'll use it or not, but TS3 offers a plugin to overlay the player's name when they talk. There was a disclaimer with that plugin that some games might flag this as an attempt to hack because it injects data into the stream to have the overlay display in-game.

Would this be an issue with Aces High?

I would think it would depend on how they "inject" the data.

the overlay works fine with AH

Yes the overlay works. There was a thread of a squad that had it on their web page. I can't remember who it was though.

Whats the benifit of using TS vs. hitting the squad talk button?

teamspeak and ventrilo are much more clear than the in game vox. you have a lot more control over comms than in game vox too, talking outside of ah, comms for other games without built in vox, even guest access if you want.

Hey Bern,

Can you post the AcesHigh section of your config_user.ini? Every time I try to start AH2 with the overlay active, AH2 shuts down before it even gets to the initial splash screen. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

I just couldn't get TSOverlay to work, so I downloaded PlayClaw. It works great.

Yes, TS ( Team Speak ) & ventrilo does have some good points about it

but there can be a downside as well

people experiencing IRQ conflicts

experiencing BSOD's
PC using to many rescources there for affecting how Aces High runs on a player's system

it is neat, I have even used both before myself, but for some with lower end computers, I would be cautious as to using it and having Aces high freeze up on you or boot you to desktop

or the same happening with TS2 or TS3

and using another plugin ( the Overlay ) is just adding more resources ( Strain ) to a players system overall, whether it uses up some CPU, Ram, etc.....

just a word of caution,  I am not saying whether people should use it or not
