So it was a child then. All this time I thought it was a college student and wondering why paterno should have gone to the police for that. Ya Id say he royally screwed the pooch by not doing so. How could he face the guy knowing he did what he did? Doesnt show alot of character on his part.

Read the indictment. 7 boys.

I did some digging and all I am seeing is a bunch of bandwagoners and "lynch him now" types both in the media and in this thread.  Fact is the only bit of information some of you have is what the media is reporting and we all know the media is right on top of things, especially the "facts".   :huh

As I always say to those who were not there, did not see it, have not walked in another man's pair of shoes.... hold fast your tongues and judgements.  The media, like wiki, is not your friend.   ;)

Read the grand jury report then.  Check pp 12 where the GJ subpoenaed both the campus police and the states child protective services for records on the 2002 shower incident, there are none.

That is because neither Paterno or anyone else reported this to the police.  This contravenes Pennsylvania law, where people in these positions are required to report suspected incidences of child abuse to law enforcement within 48 hours.  There is even an 800 number.

At the very least Paterno and anyone else who knew of this and didn't report it deserves to be fired at the very least.  Hopefully there will also be criminal prosecution.

Paterno has aquired a lawyer.

I'm beginning to think he may be facing charges along with others.

Yeah, 7 on the indictment, it's scary to think how many it probably was over his lifetime.
