Regardless of the functionality of the strat system in terms of it actually affecting anything (which it does), it does not work at all in terms of actual gameplay in the MA.
I believe one of the biggest problems is that very few actually understand how the strat system works. (heck many still do not understand how collisions work)
Another problem is that to do enough damage it requires more effort VS results than hitting other targets. For example you can "up" a mission for a field and take it down fairly easily, vs hitting the strats, and then still have to attack the same field. I consistently still see pilots obsessed with taking out the FH's and not bothering with taking out the field ack, which regardless of the FH's would make defense very difficult. As a result I understand why no one bothers with the strats.
and now that I'm probably off subject
and ranting
I think the easiest fix for the strats is to make their effect global, and very very noticable, and have nothing to due with "respawn" times which is currently in place. I would like immediate results, for example if I hit the "city" maybe it requires less buildings down in a town for a white flag. If I hit "ords" maybe AAA fire at a field is less effective. If I hit troops, maybe a goon only carry's 5 instead of 10.
Finally, I do not think they should be resupplied. To resupply is way too easy, the strats are usually far out of any realistic range to prevent a resupply.
What I believe we would get is a "horde mission" except that there will be an enormous amount of time to prepare as opposed to the 1 or 2 sector overwhelm a base mission.
Not everyone wants to up a 190 and climb to 30k to attack a huge bomber formation about to effect the game in a huge way, but I think alot of us do.
...end of rant...
