Heard about this on the radio this morning; was a little wierd hearing about something like this happening less than five miles down the road.  Apparently she lost her left hand and there is some doubt about if she will regain sight in her left eye.

Good luck and  :pray to her and her family.
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

this was very sad to hear about this morning on yahoo news. I could hardly watch the report. What happened to "CLEAR!" while starting a craft or commencing shut down before exiting? I don't know the scenario so I can't make much thought on it but this is very sad. makes you want to be pissed and cry all at once.   :bhead

In a husky she would have had to walk around the strut and forward to hit the prop (while it's blowing on you)

The pilot is equally at fault for not shutting down (he was picking up another pax) but you need to be really dumb to walk into a prop.

I really don't think this is in any way "Darwinism...."  she was probably really excited and did something abrupt that resulted in this mishap. I'm sure she wasn't aware of the stay clear zones.

Just goes to show how dangerous being in an aircraft operation area can be.  We were constantly warning
our lineguys and pax about the dangers of props, rotors and jet intake/exhaust.  Sad that she got hurt, pathetic
that some here use the opportunity to take cheap shots.
