Best Frame Rate for Optimum Performance in Game?
« on: January 28, 2012, 11:13:32 AM »
My new PC's monitor is an Alienware AW2310 that mates an Aurora R-3 and is Stereoscopic 3D with the nVidia glasses, though I did not have the 3D set up as to this thread topic.

If I set the monitor refresh rate at 60 Hertz, in game, I get a steady 60 frame rate.

If I set it at its default setting of 59 Hertz, in game, I get a steady 75 frame rate.

If I set it at 125 Hertz, in game, I get 125 frame rate, do not know, yet, how steady this is.

These refresh rates are some of the modes it can display.  Also, I have 29; 30; 100; 110 refesh rates it can display.

The checkbox is checked to "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" .

I got back online last night, after being offline a few days, in game, with my new PC, so I played not very long.

What is the best monitor refresh rate for optimum frame rate performance in game?

When gaming action games you'll be better off using a faster framerate most likely. But for AH 60hz on a LCD screen will do fine. AH doesn't have split second sub-pixel aiming needs like competitive fps has.

more like which one are you happy with.  that's what I would do, select the highest that I can get away with it.
