Unplayable after patch 2

Maddening! I have reduced graphic settings to minimums and there is no change. Micro stutters when rolling rapidly and to a lesser extent during flight. Changing views rapidly in the tower reduces frame rate to 7. These issues are minor compared to the screen freeze, then white screen then out of VRAM message. I can run the game with distance sliders maxed, detailed terrain and water, bump map terrain, ground clutter (off in flight), and bump map my vehicle with a consistant frame rate of 60 dropping to maybe 40 in high traffic areas. But, regularly between 20 and 45 minutes of playing I get the VRAM crash. I thought I was overheating my GPU but after running the game with the GPU monitor on it is right around 50-57 degrees while playing. The GPU activity usually runs at around 30-40% but during the crashes it suddenly spikes at 100%. I have tried running with all sliders minimized ant application control boxes checked with no change.

Also running in compatability mode which I thought had helped but the issues reappeared.

Problems have returned for me as well.  Seems to be a problem with smaller maps.  I've been having stutters like mad the last couple days and a crash midflight.  I've been running into "water-trees" is the best way I can describe it, where I'm at 60-100 feet, then microstutter-instatower "You have crashed".  I've had no change or drop in performance in running Skyrim or Civilization V which are very resource intensive games...  It seems especially bad on these smaller maps we've had for the last week.  My memory usage is 3x higher on login than it's been on the larger maps, and has huge spikes when looking around even from the tower.

Again, I have to stress that for the first release, and patch 1 I had none of these problems.  When patch 2 was released that 'fixed' the vmem problems that affected other people, it seemed to have caused those same problems with another group.

Skuzzy gave me some pointers and the place to look may be your sound card and/or drivers. If you have an AMD GPU, a driver update came out about the time of patch 2. What it did on my machine was to also install AMD HMDI sound drivers and they became listed under my sound devices. Even though I had nothing plugged into them the drivers were non-the-less using up my GPU resources and causing vram spikes, stuttering and then at some point crashing my computer. I have removed all drivers and disabled all playback souces not being used. My stutters are gone and although I had one crash/disco tonight it wasn't the same and think it is unrelated.
