Would it be possible to have AI drones that serve as "scouts" that fly around a predetermined path?

In the real world you didn't only have radar, you always had planes patrolling. In AH, we do not have this luxury because of a lack of people. But we could have AI drones flying around that could report aircraft in bunches of 3+.

I am not sure where they would be reported, or how. I would just assume a system message like "3 Fighter aircraft approaching XXX," "Bomber formation approaching XXX," "2 Bomber formations approaching XXX," etc.

The drones must be within 10k of the fighters to report them in a system message.

Another thing would be to let them get shot down, as this would allow some level of strategic play to neutralize the radar and scouts.

This is one of the things the "dar bar" in a sector is supposed to simulate.  Ground spotters, farmers calling in and saying "Hey... I just saw some planes with bad monkey markings on them fly over my sheep"... etc...

The radar rings are the active radar.  The Dar Bars are considered to be a combination of reports of aircraft in the area being called into the HQ.  Which is why if the HQ gets dropped, you lose both radar dots, and dar bar... since the HQ is what actually coordinates and disseminates the incoming information and passes it to the field.

EDIT: If anything... I would like to see bomber formations show a larger blip on the radar.  As they would have had a larger return image than a single aircraft.
