Steely took this quick snap of the third wave arriving.

The first wave was 109s

The second was 190-A8s and a few 410s

This was the third wave.  What was down there?  Goering's bacon supply?  :)  Certainly was well defended.

Btw did anybody else note that 410s seem to be able to fly along quite happily on one wing?  Lag my end?
I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.

It was. We all felt like there was a massive joke in there somewhere when the third wave arrived...

9GIAP got 22 assists in Frame 2. We were hitting Axis, Allies, each other, 410s, seagulls.. and a few cats, and dogs on the ground somewhere. I never saw so much lead flying around in a FSO before. My film crashes the viewer right after my first trio got blown away.

<S> to n00fer and all the other brave escorts who tried to help. Most of us 9GIAP jumped into the 325th's B-17s straightaway as gunners and got some more action over their target and on the way out.

Great frame!

cheers
