<S> G3MF.  I know for a fact I shot the tail off one hurri, but for the rest of the fight, technology was trying its hardest to screw me.  I start my dive into the fight and right as i start to fire, my track IR freaks out and im stuck looking though my bellybutton into the bottom of the cockpit.  Repeat this about once every 30 seconds.  :furious

when base 18 came under attack we in the 35th were about 24K alt slightly north of it. All our protecting fighters vectored to the nme bombers coming from the south. Knowing that our fellow fighters had the BB's for main guns we three continued to climb north for a couple of minutes counting on our other squads to shake off the bomber escorts and allow us with our Hispanos a better solution when we dove in. Just north of 18 we three turned south reacting to radio traffic from the Checkertails and vectored accordingly. Upon coming over our other squads we sighted the JU-88 formations and dove. Our first past desimated multiple formations immediately, sending half of the ones that didn't explode to the ground trailing smoke streams and parts. After our second pass there were only a few formations remaining in various forms of disarray. At this point the 35th was repositioning for the mop up of what was left with the other squads that made it back to the bombers and I was Winchester. I immediately called out rtb for rearm and nosed in for A18 from plus 15K hoping to get back up for more action. At 400 mph plus in a screaming dive into A18 I noticed aircraft circling our base and about 2k from the ground while pulling up to level I realized my base was capped by 109's!!! They at this point were on the deck and I played hell to avoid them so I could land. Thanks  to some ack the 109's kept pretty much on the perimeter of the base and I began a tight left circle on the airfield to bleed my E and line up on the runway to rearm when . .  JOYSTICK MALFUNCTION!!! . . just snap rolled me nose in to the run way! YAY, amaizingly my stick is still with me as I type this but it nearly became a pile of plastic junk when this happened. So go the breaks and even with the bad one I had it was absolutely a great night of fun. Sure hope we get to see the logs for this one because we finally got to use a potent aircraft with the  ultimate position and alot of kills, at least a half dozen for the three of us and as many as a dozen, we need our logs to verify this... Great FSO!!!  :airplane:
I wondered what those 109's were down on the ground for at that moment and would've never realized why without reading the previous posts, so if any of you German flyers saw me crash into the runway at that moment,you now know why  :salute

We were intercepted by a lone 109 then they just kept coming in what seemed like small 3-4-5 groups, after persistent attacks, our escort was no where to be seen but we had only lost a few ships and were still relatively in formation. We shot down and damaged several 109s. We then came under attack near the field and started to take heavy damage. My top turret gunner was killed and I lost my lead ship and was severely damaged in my 2nd.

You were intercepted by Nightmares VMF-101 at first then 9GIAP rolled in on top a couple of minutes later. We had 11 in the mission last Friday... awesome! Half of us 9GIAP went after the Spits who were left up top by the Nightmares, and the other half followed Dantoo into your Boston and B-25C formation. We kept up the attacks as we tried to re-group at high speed ie. our trailing guys (who got the Spits up above) caught up with your buff trailers and our lead guys kept pressing you in rolling one, two, and three-ship attacks as we tried to break up your bomb run. The bf109F just does not have the speed to let that happen. We all began to eventually run out of ammo and alt. as your last three trios (some partial) dropped on 61.

Those of us left re-armed in twos and threes and headed on out to try and catch you which I guess we did. The calls from those who caught you first were priceless. "Spits are here!" I, further back from the guys who caught you on your egress, rolled in on a Spit who was chasing Steely, who having dropped on a Spit chasing Dantoo, went up after a pass. I flew right up that Spit's tailpipe. I had too much "E" and flew right into him pumping out the 20 Mike Mike all the time. Steely said later that there was a "mighty bang" and we both disappeared in an explosion. :-)

Agreed! 9GIAP is "always happy to help" and we fly anything. :-) I've flown two separate FSO frames with 9GIAP in the B-25C and it is always a good night of action. Keep it tight and fast and you are in the ring for the count. That B-25C takes a serious licking and it is a great FSO match-up vs. the Emil and Friedrich.
