You are talking about the 1924 Raubvogel Torpedo boats? These were old and out of date but the time war started. Yes there were improvments to the armament, but even after that they where poorly defended against air attack.

The last of the class that had the most updates before being sunk in 1944 was Jaguar. Its armament was
12,7 cm L/45:                    3 (since 1932)
10,5 cm L/45 C/32:            3 (until 1932)
2 cm Flak L/65 C/39:          2 (8 since 1942/43)
53,3 cm Torpedo Tubes:     6 (since 1931)
50 cm Torpedo Tubes:        6 (unitl 1931)
Mines:                               30

Only 1 boat of this class had more then 3x12.7mm and 2x20mm guns for AA.

This would be a slow moving, large target for almost any aircraft to bomb/torp/gun down.

So along comes a fleet to a port....First guy rolls his plane. Enemy now realises there is a CV offshore. Bombers start rolling from 2 sectors away, mass flaks poor from the VH awaiting impending doom. Then if this ship was added, you have mass (basically) destroyers launching from the port at 30 mph to intercept the fleet. Basically, Cruiser goes down, your done.

I think some people are over-estimating this thing's capabilities. Less than half the displacment of something like the Fletcher Class destroyer, and only 3 guns of 105mm or 127mm caliber, that aren't AA guns.

For AA defense, they have less than half the firepower of our current PT boats, and around 1/10th that of a destroyer.

And if you're really all that scared, maybe HTC will move/add an '88 or a 17lber so that one of them fires out to sea. But really, a 190 would probably have little problems destroying one with its 500kg bomb.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.
