Max cruise for the Basler turbine DC-3 is 215 knots vs 173 knots for the original version.  It takes a slight hit in range due to higher fuel flow for the turbines.

The same thing has been done to Beech 18. MY father flew Beech 18 for Mt. Air Cargo out of BWI in the late 70's. They had one turbo version, a Volpar Turboliner with a nosewheel undercarraige.

3 things will still be here after the next "Dinosaur Killer" meteor strike......Cockroaches, twinkies, and Gooney Birds.  I love that plane.  I would love to own that plane, probably even more than I would love owning a P38.
