Agreed also the ball in cage,in cage at the 3 min mark would take the patience of St.Jude.

I've done a couple of chains, closer to the first 1 he showed than the match stick! I have a great book somewhere that is the carvers bible. ATM I'm working on a flat bow,all done with hand tools.  Ya I could speed things up with my sanders and power plane but I'm using rasps, files and a spoke shave.

My hands wont let me do it for very long so it's a labour of LUV.

I used to dabble with carving, but never got real serious about it.

Very Cool.

In Iowa the best 3 dimensional artists work in butter.

If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Thanks guys!

I've always looked at the painting as my weakest link.  The carving itself I've always found to be pretty easy.

You just look at the hunk of wood, or soap, or whatever; envision what the final piece should look like; and hack off the parts that shouldn't be there...

I've got pictures around here someplace of some of my other projects, but I'm not sure where they are at the moment.

Those chains are awesome. Last thing I carved was a 110lb selfbow out of wild hazel. Took about 15 hours in total. I sold it with 6 arrows for £180
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.
