Perk points / Patrols.

Ditched Pilots
Add PBY Catalina with ability to land and collect bailed/ditched aircrew. The pilots, if rescued will be able to land their damage and kills on a runway, like a normal mission, when the PBY lands. The PBY Pilots/Gunners will get perk points for landing and rescuing the pilots. Secondary functions could be added, like PT boat supplies, which have to be landed. PBYs can also collect "ditched" CV crew and gunners and also capture enemy prisoners that are ditched.

Aerial Mines/Minesweeping
Add FW200 Condor with an option to carry aerial mines. The mines would be useless if too close a PT spawn, but otherwise capable of hurting ships anywhere else. Maybe dev's have to allow single destroyers as a vehicle, for minesweeping, with option for gunner to join. Make them weaker than normal destroyers, discouraging players from doing anything other than escorting CV's or minesweeping. Mines would become inactive after a period of time. Chances of mines hitting a CV would be pretty low, each FW200, B24 and He111 would only carry a few. An organised raid would sow enough near a port to force enemy to minesweep ahead of the CV group or merchant group.

Saboteurs
Add Halifax Bomber Special Forces version, flown by Brits/Canadians, French, Poles, Norwegians etc, with options for bombs, cargo and for saboteurs. Add Saboteur option to C47 as well. A saboteur, once dropped can disrupt rail and road resups until the saboteur found and destroyed. Saboteurs would only hamper resup. Saboteurs could also attack 1 item at a designated base. Similar to strat raiding, a team would benefit from organised special forces drops/resups.

Merchant Ships
Manned Version -  3 ships like a bomber - can be used by one player or in convoy formations of 6, 9, 12 etc. Gunner option for AA guns. Can resup any coastal facility. The longer the journey and the more cargo the more perks achieved.

Strat Version - Convoy group, like CV group, every ship that makes it resups the strats or speeds up times. Ships carry fuel, ords, troops, vehicles, aircraft, materials. CV gunners can join and hurricane fighters can be launched from forward catapults on two ships. Teams decide what resources to use to protect or hunt Convoy Groups (PQ). Convoy groups move almost half the speed of a CV group. Slow and juicy targets that are easily decimated if unprotected.

Why?
I would like to see more activity at sea. Currently I stand out like a sore thumb in my Coastal Command Liberators and I get paranoid about multi-account players and also, it works both ways, the more activity at sea, the more enemy there will be too, it makes noe missions harder of course, more ships to encounter. But ultimately a greater choice of targets and missions for naval and coastal pilots.

you do understand that you get your perks for bringing your own airplane to land at a friendly base.  but I tell you what, I say you get to collect 50% of the perks earned if somebody brings you back.

as for the pby  man i would make beaucoup perks by flying around near my base in a furball picking up bailed players,  oh wait, no I wouldnt, who the heck would wait 10 or 15 minutes to be picked up  when it's easier and faster to up another plane and make up the lost perks.

There is also the fact that historically, PBYs were not used for land rescues as only a number of Catalinas were amphibious capable (PBY-5A/6A) and those amphibious PBYs were not able to land on rough or unprepared airfields.

The OP wishes to use the PBY to pick up downed pilots, how will a PBY land and pick up the pilot if the pilot didn't bail out and land directly on an airfield?  Also, no SAR plane is going to land on an enemy airfield to pick up a downed pilot.

If SAR aircraft is wished for, the Storch already fits that bill, as well as the addition of a L-1 Grasshopper or a Westland Lysander which are far more suited for picking up downed crew on land than a PBY ever would be.

Storks can't land on water, the ideas are really trying to address naval and coastal aviation issues. Is it not a case of perk points increasing the longer the mission, therefore some point to wait for rescue. Also any self-respecting squad would have their own SAR pilot already on station. Also, if you are downed at an enemy airfield then obviously you're a prisoner that is not going to be rescued. If not pilot rescue, then have unmanned submarines randomly searching CV groups and liberators and other planes equipped to deal with them.

When I say PBY, I mean over water, amphib PBY was not until "late war" and really the idea being not so much about perks, but giving pilots something else to do over water apart from being on CV hunts or strat raids.

I notice there are other models in the game besides destroyers, cruisers and CVs.

Until water is actually modeled in the game, a Catalina wouldn't be able to land on the water either, let alone take off.  Water in this game is a solid object.

I don't know how you can consider a plane that started to roll off the production line in 1940 a "late war" plane, unless you're confusing the PBY-5A with the PBY-6A.

I've seen this repeated a number of times to argue against the possibility of a flying boat being added.  Who's to say that HTC wouldn't just coad the PBY to land on water, instead of recoding the water?

That said, the whole "rescuing pilots" thing is dumb, at least for the MA.  Just a work around for people to keep their perks/leet score, even though they got waxed.  :ahand

where did this come from?

Special events or axis and allies most likely. Those terrains are at times far more appealing and realistic to the player. Since special event and AVA terrain makers don't have a standard regulation like you do in MA it makes for a better eye candy. That LST was probably created in object editor then placed on terrain maker.

*Hi-Jack in progress* Well a slight Hi-Jack anyways..

Perhaps add what's in that picture to the MA? Like have spawnpoints and such for them, so when a CV gets close to one of these 'locked points' they spawn, they have a few guns on them so they can be defended, and only a select few tanks/vehicles can come out. All the defenders have to do, is what they would do with a normal ship, strafe, shoot or bomb.  Would be so sweet to have them.

Not sure on the OP's wish. +1/-1 for now.

Cant, gotta get past regulations and when you do its no longer acceptable to be published for MA. only HTC can change that
