change for HQ
« on: August 11, 2013, 11:50:44 AM »
The current reward for killing the HQ is basically griefing an entire country.  Without darbars, there is no almost no way to find the enemy.  This game is supposed to promote combat, yet this feature goes totally against combat.  Imagine a new(er) person logging on and seeing a map with nobody on it (and no explanation whatsoever, of why that is).  The whole idea is misguided.

Possible solutions...

Tie the HQ's destruction to some other reward, such as:

- disabling base captures.

- disabling 5 ENY planes.

- disabling ordnance.

- moving strat factories to the front  (my favorite).

No.  HQ is headquarters.  Things are just right.

the longest I have seen hq down is 30 minutes.  normally it's back up before the bombers are more than a couple of sectors away.

Haha, know what would be fun? If they expanded the HQ into a whole strat...

Granted the HQ building would still be the radar killing annoyance, but what if the strat that went along with it slowed down country/vox text?

The lower the strat % the longer the text delay on country and vox

Now that'll be evil heheheehehe, especially if there's a 20 second delay in text  :devil

HQ used to have a tiered damaged effect.  Why it is has an "all or none" damage model I do not know.

I actually think HTC does not know that it is no longer tiered.  Even the clipboard is set up to show the different staged of damage to the HQ (no friendly dar bar @ %25, no friendly dots @ %50, no enemy dar bar @ %75, no enemy dots @ %100).

when it was tiered you could not re-supply it until it was all the way down

Losing the HQ gets annoying and I have another solution to offer. Protect it.

After the HQ is down usually several people up goons for long resupply trips. If the same amout of guys would take comets up they would have the ability to end an hour long buff mission in minutes.

I'm sure HTC could fix that well enough with a few beers and some "coad" work.   :aok

I wonder how realistic it is A. to be able to completely destroy an HQ with regular bombers and B. having destroyed it, that an entire country's radar goes down. I would suggest some partial interference, that isn't going to cause 20 people to resup the entire HQ, while the bombers are still egressing, more like strat hits, where it is cumulative and can catch the enemy unaware that is affecting them. The total loss, alerts the enemy to fix the problem. I would change that.
